September Forum: "Making the Documentary"

So you’ve decided your next film will be a documentary but you’re not sure you have the real story or how you're going to reach your audience. Get answers to these and other questions you might have at the next San Antonio Film Forum. It'll be held on Tuesday, September 28th. The topic is “Matter of Fact: Making the Documentary”. Come hear from three women filmmakers Laura Varela (As Long As I Remember: American Veteranos), Debra Sugerman (Broken, Dear Mr. President) and Guillermina Zabala (Juanito’s Lab, Kordavision).
The forum is free and held the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Downtown Central Library Auditorium at 600 Soledad, (on first floor), from 7 to 8 p.m. Come early and network with other film-friendly folks. Parking is available in the library parking garage for a small fee.

August 2010 Forum “Making a Hi-Quality low budget Western”

So you’ve always wanted to shoot a Western but think it would be too costly. Should you shelve the idea or stick to your guns?

Don’t miss the next San Antonio Film Forum on Tuesday, August 24th. Come hear from filmmakers who have made their Western movie and will share what they’ve learned along the way. July 2010: Teach Me: Filmmaking Faculty



Thinking about signing up for a film class? Are you a high school or college student who wants to learn more about the programs and the instructors before signing up? Don’t miss the next San Antonio Film Forum on Tuesday, July 27th. Several local educators including (Antoinette Winstead, new cinema classes /Our Lady of the Lake University, Jorge Hernandez/ Brackenridge High School Media Productions and Donnie Meals, RTF/SAC and Konise Millender/North East School of the Arts) will be on hand to talk about their curriculum and how they teach filmmaking. The topic is “Teach Me: Filmmaking Faculty”.

June 2010 Forum: Shooting Your Next Film in Spanish


¿Habla espaƱol? So you want to make a movie for a Spanish-speaking audience? Don’t miss the next San Antonio Film Forum 2010 on Tuesday, June 22nd at the Downtown Central Library, presented entirely in Spanish. The topic is “Shooting Your Next Film in Spanish.”

Come and hear from several filmmakers including Director Juan Carlos Hernandez of Eagle Eye Productions (Secuestrada), Director Ricardo Mendoza of Digital Work Studios (El Escape De Los Santos, Ash Wednesday: Capitulo Unus), Director A.J. Garces (Crush, Death Rattle), and Director Pablo Veliz of CineVeliz (La Tragedia de Macario, 7 Kilos, The Boys of Ghost Town, Clemente, and Double Dagger) as they share their filmmaking experiences and talk about their new projects.

May 2010 Forum: Getting Your Film Into the Festival


Want to get your film into the next film festival? Come and hear what festival directors are looking for before you submit yours. Don’t miss the first San Antonio Film Forum 2010 on Tuesday, May 25th at the Downtown Central Library. The topic is “Getting Your Film into the Festival”.
